10 Best Etsy Shops for the Home

My love for Etsy is STRONG.  Whenever I’m looking to source for my clients (and of course myself), Etsy is one of my top resources.  Look, I won’t lie:  there’s a lot of shops (and stuff) listed on Etsy that some might say is…well, I’ll be nice – not for everyone.  Disclaimer:  this post is not for those looking for anything personalized in that ubiquitous black script that says “keep calm and carry on” or whatever.  Instead, I’m dedicating this post to those shops that take care to source and offer quality décor.  I’ve spent countless hours scouring this online destination, even just for fun.  And after all that, I can safely say I’ve rounded up some of the best Etsy shops for home décor and design currently out there.

Linda’s Barn

Working out of a barn in New Hampshire, Linda and her husband source spectacular, one-of-a-kind vintage and antique rugs from all over the world.  They’ve been collecting rugs since the 1990s, and it’s apparent they have a keen eye for quality and know what they’re doing.  They don’t just carry your average vintage rug – they’re offerings run from ornate Persian Malayers to those perfectly faded Turkish Oushak rugs that complement any design aesthetic.

Even when I was first starting out in design, I was sourcing vintage rugs on Etsy.  I’d add my keywords to its search engine, and randomly hold out hope that I’d find what I was looking for.  Cut to the end of story:  it took me forever, I’m talking hours and hours of wasted time, to scroll through my options to find the right rug.  Only after doing this about a million times did I stumble upon this shop, and boy, I’m glad I did.  Luckily for you all, you can learn from my mistakes and just go straight to the source for the real article.  Check out LindasBarn here.

Through the Porthole

I actually stumbled across this Etsy shop in its physical form while strolling the Long Beach Flea Market one Saturday morning.  It was a dreary day, and I hadn’t really found any “treasures” – just kind of striking out.  But when I passed this shop’s stand at the flea market, I knew I had found what I was looking for:  cool, vintage décor that had this perfect patina, the kind that told a real story.  While there was a ton of stuff I wanted to nab, I limited myself (as I usually do at flea markets) to this delightful hand-turned vintage honey pot and walked away a happy girl.

While Through the Porthole does find its way to various flea markets on the West Coast, its online Etsy shop offers the same unique décor for those all over, except without having to walk a whole flea market venue to find them!  As a Christmas gift, I received a charming little vintage cow’s bell from this shop, and their vintage pottery is out of this world good.  So good that I follow this shop on Instagram in order to receive shop updates on what’s new.

My Haven Home

Hands down, this is the Etsy store to shop for pillows.  Based in Los Angeles, My Haven Home sells high-end pillows and textiles for a fraction of the price you’d find them elsewhere.  They use quality vintage textiles sourced from all over the world to offer unique, minimalistic pillow covers that just ooze the organic modern feel you’d find in any Cali-cool home or eclectic modern European farmhouse.

Amongst other things, I collect vintage textiles (duh), and my quite sizable collection includes several pillow covers I purchased from My Haven Home.  The shop primarily offers pillows with textiles hand woven from Southeast Asia, but right now it has some really classic vintage grainsack covers I desperately want to get my hands on.

One of the reasons I check Etsy daily:  to see if this shop has any updates or new items – it’s that awesome.

The Parsons Nose

Based in Michigan, this Etsy shop offers your quintessentially English vintage and antique furniture, with fresh shop updates every Saturday.  In fact, this is yet another Etsy shop I follow on Instagram in order to stay on top of new items, because believe me, they sell, and quickly. Like many, I adore vintage and antique furniture, but without the overly ornate and stuffy accoutrement (the MCM-lover in me craves clean lines). Good thing for me, because this shop’s wares are cohesively curated to offer both a modern sensibility in form while also nodding to the past through their patina.

If you’re like me and love the whole modern English cottage style thing going on these days, this shop is definitely worth a look. The Parsons Nose and its owner, Brad, get rave reviews, not only on the pieces for sale, but also for incredible customer service.

Circa Art Collection

Although Circa Art Collection is a pretty well known seller on Etsy, I can’t help but share it. With over 1,000 five star reviews and more than 17,000 sales, the shop’s owner, Alena, is clearly doing something right.

There’s almost 800 different pieces of art that can be dowloaded digitally, so no need to wait for shipping and delivery! But don’t think you’ll have to scroll endlessly in order to view them all - Alena has throughly organized the prints in their relevant collections, so if you know what you’re looking for, you can head right to the appropriate group. Side note: a disorganized Etsy shop just grinds my gears - it’s an absolute pet peeve of mine, having to look at every single item a shop offers that in no way pertain to what I’m looking for.

The store’s collections include abstract prints, landscapes, botanicals, sketches and ink drawings, with really special works in each. Each print is lovingly selected and enhanced, so that the print you choose downloads seamlessly and prints flawlessly. And while I named this shop because of its quality prints, I can’t forget the wonderfully meaningful message on its About page - that beautiful art should be accessible and affordable. I mean, who doesn’t love that?

Crassula Wood

Based in Ukraine, this Etsy shop offers a charming array of hand-turned wood candlestick holders and other decor, primarily made of ash. They lean heavily on influences of MCM, with their deceptively simple forms, yet Crassula Wood’s designs are lovingly crafted with thoughtful imagination. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t even dream up half of the shapes these candlestick holders end up taking.

And, for those of you out there that have a hard time conceptualizing the actual size of an item you see online, these candlestick holders are substantial, but not oversized. They’re lightweight and don’t easily nick or dent if there’s an accident.

For myself, I purchased two sets of candlestick holders - which each contain three holders - at various heights in the unfinished, natural ash color. I then stained several of them using dark walnut and cherry stains, and I’m telling you, they look good. Well worth every penny spent.

Sputnik Lights

I’m a huge fan of eclectic and unusual light fixtures, so this shop doesn’t disappoint.  This lighting store is for those looking for quirky MCM lighting at a reasonable price point.  Based in Sweden, Sputniklights offers a plethora of different types of light fixtures – from modern wall sconces to brass pendants and chandeliers.  An extra nice little feature:  each fixture comes in nine – count em’, nine - different finishes, which include matte or antique black, raw or polished brass, and their “antique patina” finish (looks legit).

I wish I had space for images of all of the remarkable light fixtures this shop creates – so, you’ll just have to go and look for yourself!  Other crucial and helpful information on this shop:  their fixtures are fully customizable, so if you see something you like but it’s not quite matching your vision, just shoot them a message and they’ll make your dreams come true.

Bloom Home Inc

My heart literally soars every time I visit Bloom Home Inc'‘s Etsy shop. Its home furnishings are absolutely spectacular and so chic. In a word: jaw-dropping. With almost 1,000 items for sale, this shop is a treasure trove of vintage and custom-made furniture. The shop’s owner, Loretta, has been working in the field for the last 20 years, and clearly has impeccable taste. Everything - I mean everything - is of the highest caliber.

And, as a hint by the image above, Bloom Home Inc loves itself some French vintage and antiques, offering beautifully restored furniture. Louis XV not your thing? That’s okay, this shop’s still got you covered - it also stocks reclaimed elmwood benches and stools. And let’s not forget its custom-made furniture line, especially the rug ottomans with metal bases - those are by far the most drool-worthy..

So, I won’t lie: the furnishings at this shop are rather…expensive. And while I’m a total believer in spending $$$$ for a custom-made, quality article, I understand that some of you out there might not be as trigger-happy with online shopping as I am. Solution: Bloom Home Inc also offers a nicely curated selection of pillow covers, which, although still on the pricier end, are completely worth the investment. Check out its pillow selection here.

Forge Hardware Studio

Man, oh man, if you’re looking for cabinet hardware, Forge Hardware Studio.has it all. Based in Florida, this Etsy shop has over 68,000 sales. The Studio is a “Star Seller” in Etsy’s book, and it’s easy to see why. It offers over 758 different types of hardware, and all of them are of the highest quality. Finishes include the ever-popular brass variations currently on trend, your modern matte black, and nickel or chrome. And, If you’re looking for something really out there and glam, it even offers lucite pulls and knobs! With dedicated sections devoted to appliance pulls and wall hooks, it’s pretty obvious that Forge Hardware Studio has thought of everything you might need in terms of hardware.

When I was sourcing kitchen cabinet hardware for the Chagrin Road project (read more on that here), I went directly to Forge Hardware Studio. Why? We used Cafe Appliances by GE in their matte white with bronze hardware finish. So, you ask? Well, I’ll let you in on a little expert secret of mine: the pulls and knobs that the Studio offers in its “Champagne Bronze” finish are an EXACT COLOR and FINISH MATCH to Cafe Appliances’ bronze hardware finish. So, instead of having to mix and match brass hardware and that bronze color Cafe Appliances uses, I got to design the Chagrin Road kitchen using only one finish (which I like when working with small spaces that require a lot of hardware and fixtures).

Cathedrae

This Etsy shop is probably the least well-known on this list, but it’s truly a hidden gem. If you’re an enthusiast for famous vintage furniture makers like Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret, then Cathedrae is for you. The shop specializes quality reproductions of such famous furniture designers. So, if you’re like me, scouring Chairish and 1st Dibs every other day to find vintage Perriand dining chairs at a reasonable price, then you’ll know you’re often stymied by those websites’ price tags. But, with Cathedrae here, you can get a genuine reproduction of the real thing at a fraction of the price.

While I have no current plans on updating my dining room, my Pinterest board for the space is FULL of vintage Perriand dining chairs, often at unbelievably expensive price points. And while I’d love to own the real article someday, it’s awfully nice knowing that, if I can’t find the original, Cathedrae is there for a expertly crafted reproduction.
